Today is #LOVEYYC day. A chance for Calgarians to show their love for their city, and the small businesses that make it great! Since moving here 16 months ago, my love for the city of Calgary, Alberta has grown even more. Here's why!
I’ve had a few practice run’s at getting my carry-on baggage right, and it’s second nature to me now. Everyone has their own travel routine’s, but I thought I’d share mine with you, in the hope that it makes that next long haul flight a little less painful!
Let’s talk seasonal decor. This week marked the start of Fall, although I’m pretty sure nobody told Calgary that! I’ve rounded up a few of my favourite pieces of Fall home decor you can keep for years to come, that wont end up rotting on your front porch!
In the first of our Travel Journal features, I interview Megan from Megan Maundrell Photography. Keep reading to hear about her travel adventures, moving from Vancouver Island to Calgary, her travel photography tips, and the joys of IKEA meatballs!
My husband (AKA The Boy) has been doing the 100 Day Challenge, and religiously sticking to 100 press-ups every day and in another week or so he’ll be able to proudly show off his newly toned shoulders, and say, ‘Yep I did that.’ Inspired by his motivation, I thought I’d give it a go. Turns out I didn't fare so well...
The kiddo's head back to school today, and that most likely marks the end of summer for us. It got me thinking about what we have experienced and achieved this summer. Turns out, quite alot! It honestly has flown by so ridiculously fast! I know everyone says that, but this year, I honestly can’t believe how quick. So what have we been up to?
Every time I travel to a new place, I always feel the need to bring back some kind of foreign treasure to remind me of my trip. I love the idea of having a piece of home decor from every country I’ve ever travelled to, although I definitely failed at that plan a very long time ago! So instead, I settle for trying to find a special piece from a few places as and when I can.
I love the shadows a papercut creates when framed in the right way. The best way to think about it is with positive and negative space. The positive is the paper, and the negative is the cut outs, or gaps. Basically what you’re trying to create is a pretty decent shadow in the negative space, created by the positive space. Have I lost you?! Let me show you what I mean!
I’m working hard to plan the next few collections, which will be launching soon. So I thought I’d bring you along for the ride, and show you a bit of behind the scenes as I go. It’s actually pretty crazy the amount of work that goes into planning each collection, as it turns out designing the products is only a very small part of it.
I recently posted about a bit of a dilemma I’ve been having with the direction Ta Muchly is heading in. Without realizing it, I’d fallen into the trap of saying ‘Yeah, I can do that,’ to anything people asked me to make. And while of course I CAN make that custom design, I came to the realization that I don’t actually want to! Before you think I’m some kind of diva, let me explain!
How I started is quite a tough question, Ta Muchly has been around in various forms and names since my very first craft market when I was about 9 years old! I've dabbled in 3D decoupage cards, crochet and knitting, and lots more. If you fancy taking a trip down memory lane with me, keep reading for the full 'How I Started' journey...
